When I named this blog “QUALITY DISC JOCKEYS FOR EVERYONE”  I didn’t specify what kind of quality, just that there is a level of quality that is available to everyone.

Let’s talk about the different quality levels of DISC JOCKEYS

PROFESSIONAL DISC JOCKEYS will be someone that is most likely a full time DISC JOCKEY. They will usually not have a full time job and will not be a DISC JOCKEY as a hobby on the side. At some point they made a decision to dedicate themselves to becoming a full time entertainer and they realized that this is truly a full time career. They continue to invest time and money into learning how to make their performances the best they can be.

A PROFESSIONAL DISC JOCKEY will have:

• high end PROFESSIONAL DJ equipment
• excellent sound
• a dynamic personality
  
• a huge library of music
• excellent microphones
• modern PROFESSIONAL DJ LED type active dance floor lighting
• a PROFESSIONAL DJ wardrobe
• reliable transportation
• back up equipment
• liability insurance
• ongoing training, seminars, books, tapes
  
• a back-up plan in case of emergency or sickness.  

A PROFESSIONAL DEE JAY will be much more than someone that just shows up and plays some music, he/she will arrive with a plan to deliver an outstanding entertainment performance from start to finish. Your professional DISC JOCKEY will have a lot of experience and expertise and will be very helpful for planning your event. His/her professionalism will be obvious in the first 30 seconds of your initial phone call! One more thing… a PROFESSIONAL DISC JOCKEY will answer the phone when you call, or call back in a very short time!

GOOD DISC JOCKEYS  will probably be someone that has a full time job and is a DISC JOCKEY as a hobby on the side. At some point they made a decision to dedicate themselves to working a full time job and they realized that they could not make enough money as a full time DISC JOCKEY.  

A good DISC JOCKEY could possibly have:

• back up equipment

• a back-up plan in case of emergency or sickness
• liability insurance
• modern PROFESSIONAL DJ LED type dance floor lighting

In this category you could get lucky and even find a great DISC JOCKEY, but chances are you’ll get a DISC JOCKEY that probably can’t answer the phone during business hours because they are at work.

BAD DISC JOCKEYS will probably be someone that will make you sorry if you hire them. You may have initially saved a few hundred dollars but if your party or wedding reception is a flop was it worth it? You can hire a DJ for a few hundred dollars that will ruin your wedding reception!

In this category you’ll find

• the kids with Ipods with a pair of powered speakers
• non professional sound systems
  
• DISC JOCKEYS without much experience
• not much of a music selection
• moonlighting club DJs
• old timers that are still using CDs but don’t have a laptop and probably don’t have very much of today’s top hits.

Included in this category will be very CHEAP WEDDING DJS that get lots of gigs and probably not very many go well. This DISC JOCKEY may answer the phone, but you could get “wuz up dog?”


This category of DJ will probably cost less than your cake. If you can manage to stretch your cake cutting long enough to entertain your guests for 3 hours your "cheap DJ" should be able to safely get through the dinner music.

So which kind of DISC JOCKEY do you hire?

It all depends on how important it is to you that your DISC JOCKEY can effectively coordinate and entertain at your event, will have great sound, and will have the skills to play the right music to keep your guests dancing and having a great time.
